By driving North on either Scottsdale Road or Cave Creek Road you will see acres of new development with stretches of unspoiled desert.  Cave Creek is approximately 20-30 minutes from Scottsdale and Phoenix, and 30 minutes north of the Sky Harbor Airport, and less than two hours south of Flagstaff.
 
You will know you are in "Old Town" Cave Creek when you begin noticing the storefronts and restaurants that resemble the Old West.  There are many modern residential developments all around, however the center of town is able to retain its wonderful Western character.  Visitors and tourists love Cave Creek for its souvenir shopping and antique hunting.  There is also a small museum that shows Native American artifacts and mining and ranching displays. 
 
In Cave Creek you will find the Cave Creek Recreation Area which was opened in 1992.  Its horse trails all loop within the 2,900 plus acre land.  Interesting rock formations and scenic views are the park's hallmarks.  There are a number of old mine shafts in the park.  Cave Creek Recreation Area is located at 32nd Street, about 1.5 miles north of Carefree Highway.  Cave Creek Recreation Area is a peaceful scenic recreation area.  This park has picnic areas, a horse staging area and over 11 miles of trails.  The park has several camping sites.

Driving north on either Scottsdale Road or Cave Creek Road, from the Phoenix Valley, you can see the Black Mountain.  It rises tall and irresistible and viewable softly in the distance. It is like no other mountain around. Black Mountain is the center of the Foothills and it is partially surrounded by the huge famous Boulders.  The mountain peaks at about 1,300 feet and is made of yellow granite.  The Black Mountain provides some of the most prime real estate in Cave Creek and Carefree.  The views are incredible!

In addition to local landmarks such as Black Mountain, Elephant Butte and Skull Mesa, there are several championship golf courses nearby.  Bicycling through local trails, and spoiling ourselves at the elegant local retail shops, cafes and restaurants are some of the things we are accustomed to here in Cave Creek!
